Job summary

CommonSpirit Medical Group (Mountain Management Services) invites qualified candidates to join its Glenwood lab team as a Lab Assistant. You will collect, prepare, and process patient specimens for diagnostic tests, using careful technique and meticulous attention to detail.

You will assemble equipment, verify patient identity, draw blood, and prepare specimens for analysis, while maintaining documentation in the QA system.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate, upon hire.
• CPR certification required within 30 days.
• Phlebotomy training program with 1 year related experience preferred.
• Certified Phlebotomy Technician preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble equipment for tests (tourniquet, needles, blood collection devices, gauze, alcohol).
• Verify or record patient or donor identity.
• Draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for analysis.
• Send specimens to reference laboratories if not performed in-house.
• Maintain documentation per QA program, including logs and checklists.
• Identify problems affecting test performance and notify supervisor.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Lab Assistant at CommonSpirit Medical Group - Primary Care - Glenwood, you will play a crucial role in solving diagnostic mysteries, bringing us one step closer to effectively treating patient illnesses and injuries.Every day you will utilize your expertise and our advanced technology to precisely collect, prepare, and process a diverse range of patient specimens (blood, urine, tissue, etc.) for various diagnostic tests. To be successful in this role, you will possess a foundational understanding of laboratory procedures, demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, and maintain an eager commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Assemble equipment, such as tourniquet, needles, disposable containers for needles, blood collection devices, gauze, cotton, and alcohol on work tray, according to requirements for specified tests or procedures.

Verify or record identity of patient or donor.

Draw and collect blood samples from patients, verifies records and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis. May prick finger to draw blood.

Send specimens to reference laboratories for any testing not performed in house.

Maintain proper documentation as described by the quality assurance program including accessioning logs, equipment records and checklists.

Identify problems which may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and take appropriate action, including supervisor notification.
