Job summary

Actalent is seeking an entry-level Laboratory Assistant to join our Saint Paul lab team. You will receive, log, and prepare samples for testing, ensuring proper handling and labeling.

This on-site contract role supports processing a large volume of samples with opportunities to learn in a dynamic lab environment. High school diploma and a drive to grow within the lab are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, with a preference for some science coursework.
• Desire to advance within the lab.

Responsibilities

• Receive samples from couriers and log them into the system.
• Verify arrival, inspect for damage, and manage packaging disposal.
• Use multiple software systems and enter data for different samples.
• Create labels and ensure sample names match requisitions.
• Handle urine, blood, serum, plasma, and other body fluids.
• Occasionally aliquot, centrifuge or freeze samples as needed.
• Help process 5,000–11,000 samples daily.
• Manage workflow for sample storage in walk-in refrigerators and freezers.

Responsibilities

• Meet couriers to receive samples from across the USA and internationally, initiating the tracking process.
• Verify the arrival of all samples, inspect for damage, and manage packaging disposal.
• Utilize multiple computer software systems, remembering specific applications for different samples.
• Ensure sample names match requisitions.
• Handle various types of samples, primarily urine, but also blood, serum, plasma, and body fluids.
• Create and apply labels to samples after data entry into systems.
• Occasionally aliquot samples, centrifuge, or freeze them for stabilization as needed.
• Contribute to processing 5,000-11,000 samples daily.
• Manage workflow for sample maintenance in walk-in refrigerators and freezers after 3, 6, and 12 months.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Saint Paul, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.53 - $19.53/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
