Position Summary

This position performs the daily duties of clinical lab operations and testing, including phlebotomy, specimen collection, EKGs, lab requisition completion, computer data entry, basic x-rays if licensed, processing lab results, calibration, quality control, and operation of CBC systems. The role involves collaboration with nursing and provider staff, specimen transport, and other duties assigned by the Ancillary Services Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma
• Medical Assistant with Phlebotomy training or at least two years' experience in Phlebotomy
• Active BLS certification
• Phlebotomy skills
• Computer skills

• Proficiency with equipment and understanding technical instructions

• Knowledge of safety regulations (OSHA, CLIA, COLA)

Responsibilities and Performance Expectations

• Understand CFHC’s programs, policies, and guidelines
• Follow exposure control and universal precautions
• Provide off-hours coverage as needed
• Participate in staff meetings and quality control activities
• Perform in-house testing, label specimens, and ensure proper documentation
• Ensure proper specimen transport and follow-up on lab results, especially critical values
• Maintain lab equipment, supplies, and records accurately
• Report reportable diseases and coordinate with health departments
• Participate in continuing education and quality improvement initiatives
