Job description

Holyoke Medical Center Laboratory has an exciting entry-level position available for applicants interested in diagnostic medicine. The applicant must share a passion for our lab mission statement, which is working collaboratively to ensure quality results for every patient, every time.

The job responsibilities include assisting laboratory staff, clinical staff, and patients in diverse roles within the clinical laboratory. The Laboratory Assistant will register and receive specimens, enter specimen data into a software system, prepare samples for further laboratory analysis, perform COVID-19 / Flu / Strep molecular testing, and transport specimens to other labs and clinical departments. Responsibilities also include customer service, training, answering phones, entering precise and accurate data, adherence to laboratory regulations, and performing testing according to standard operating procedures.

REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma and any previous work experience are required. A Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, or Health Science is preferred. Previous experience in a healthcare setting or medical laboratory experience is strongly preferred.
