Job summary

The McConnell Group is seeking a Clinical Veterinarian to support animal care and research programs in Pittsburgh, PA. You will provide veterinary clinical services for research animals, work with faculty and animal care teams, and help ensure humane care and scientifically sound practices across the program.

Qualifications

• DVM/VMD degree from an accredited program.
• Active veterinary license in at least one U.S. state with PA licensure within required timeframe.
• Clinical veterinary experience with research animals and regulatory requirements knowledge.
• Strong documentation, judgment, collaboration and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide preventive, diagnostic, medical, surgical, and emergency veterinary care for research animals.
• Develop treatment plans, oversee clinical cases, and advise on humane endpoints and pain management.
• Collaborate with investigators on model selection, study procedures, and colony management.
• Review IACUC protocols and support compliance with regulations and accreditation.
• Maintain complete veterinary records and support inspections and program reviews.
• Train animal care personnel and investigators in animal handling and biosecurity.
• Work with facilities and safety teams to address health and safety issues.
