Job summary

The University of Pittsburgh's Division of Laboratory and Animal Resources (DLAR) seeks a Veterinary Technician to support veterinarians, fellow technicians, and researchers in animal care and research activities on the Pittsburgh campus.

You will assist with procedures, provide surgical and anesthesia support, monitor animal well-being, administer medications, and help with record-keeping and inventory, with some on-call or weekend work as needed.

Qualifications

• ALAT certification required or attained within 12 months.
• Preferred degree in animal science or a related biological field.
• Completion of an AVMA CVTEA-accredited veterinary technician program.

Responsibilities

• Provide veterinary medical care and support to veterinarians and researchers.
• Monitor daily animal well-being and maintain clinical areas.
• Assist with procedures and provide surgical/ anesthesia support.
• Triage cases, perform medical imaging, administer medications, and maintain records.
• Maintain supply inventory and assist with cage wash and husbandry as needed.
