Role Overview

This position involves providing animal husbandry services to support CHOP's mission.

Responsibilities
  1. Follow all SOPs and Quality Assurance Standards.
  2. Perform daily animal health checks and report abnormalities.
  3. Dispose of dead animals per SOPs and policies.
  4. Change animal cages, including feeding and watering, as per SOPs and protocols.
  5. Sex and wean animals following SOPs.
  6. Maintain daily records and forms as directed.
  7. Clean and sanitize animal facilities, rooms, and cages.
  8. Maintain and repair animal caging and equipment.
  9. Manage incoming animal shipments according to SOPs.
  10. Assist with animal restraint, handling, and manipulation.
  11. Perform routine maintenance on cage washers and autoclaves.
  12. Process and autoclave cages and supplies.
  13. Adhere to SOPs, safety procedures, and quality guidelines.
  14. Prepare and submit records and inventories.
  15. Perform other duties supporting animal care and welfare.
Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma / GED required.

Experience: Experience with animals in labs, practice, or zoo preferred.

Licenses & Certifications: ALAT, LAT, or LATG from AALAS preferred.

Additional Information

All employees working in patient care areas must be vaccinated against COVID-19 and receive an annual influenza vaccine, with exemptions available for valid medical or religious reasons. Start dates may be delayed pending immunization or exemption review.
