Job summary

West Virginia University’s Office of Lab Animal Resources seeks an Animal Care Technician to perform cage washing, animal care, and facility support in a vivarium setting. The role requires adherence to SOPs, observation of animals, and collaboration with veterinary staff.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with animals.
• Six months of experience with animals (lab or farm) preferred or equivalent.
• All qualifications must be met by time of employment.

Responsibilities

• Animal Husbandry: clean cages, equipment, and setup cage changes; support Core Facilities.
• Animal Care: feed/water animals, observe for abnormalities, document procedures.
• Facility maintenance: operate cleaners, stock PPE areas, assist in receiving supplies.
• Other duties: attend trainings and meetings, laundry of staff scrubs, perform other duties as assigned.
