Job summary

The General Hospital Corporation is seeking a Veterinary Technician to provide animal care and medical support for laboratory animals at Mass General Brigham. You will assist with rounds, triage, treatments and monitoring, while maintaining detailed records and ensuring welfare guidelines are followed.

After hours, rotating weekend and holiday work may be required; extensive collaboration with veterinary staff and investigators is essential for research support and data documentation.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Veterinary Technology preferred.
• LAT certification preferred.
• 1-2 years of laboratory animal or veterinary care experience required.
• Ability to follow institutional SOPs and work with moderate supervision.

Responsibilities

• Care for laboratory animals daily, including feeding, watering, cleaning cages, and maintaining appropriate living environments.
• Prepare trainings and procedures; schedule and conduct basic technical skill trainings for investigators and peers as needed.
• Perform basic animal restraint, minimize stress, and ensure safety of animals and personnel.
• Perform regular health checks and observations; report concerns to veterinary team.
• Take vital signs and perform general examinations to assess health.
• Assist veterinary staff with routine health assessments, medical treatments, and procedures for laboratory animals.
• Maintain animal records by documenting conditions and changes in the database.
• Ensure compliance with institutional, regulatory and ethical guidelines, including IACUC policies.
