Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Laboratory Animal Care Technician in Greenfield, IN. The role supports veterinary and research teams, maintaining animal welfare, handling, and strict biosecurity in a clean, organized facility.

The position runs Monday–Friday, approximately 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a contract-to-hire pathway and comprehensive benefits after conversion. Pay ranges from $19.00 to $20.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and location.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least six months of relevant large or small animal care experience.
• Experience with animal care and animal handling in a structured setting.
• Basic knowledge of animal husbandry and health monitoring.
• Ability to move about for long periods and lift up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Care for laboratory animals by feeding, watering, cleaning, and breeding as scheduled.
• Maintain organized, aseptic, and safe work area.
• Follow protocols to ensure health and welfare of animals.
• Perform animal health checks and weighings.
• Collaborate with veterinary staff to support welfare and health outcomes.
• Maintain detailed records of animal production, inventory, and care.
• Inject or medicate animals as instructed.
• Prepare animals for shipment and confirm shipment details.
