Actalent is seeking an Laboratory Animal Care Technician in Stilwell, KS for a contract-to-hire role. You will perform comprehensive animal husbandry, assist veterinary staff, and support research activities while maintaining clean facilities and accurate records.

The position requires weekend/holiday coverage and adherence to safety and biosecurity protocols. The role offers onsite work in Stilwell, KS with competitive hourly pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in animal science or veterinary settings beneficial.
• Experience with breeding and husbandry practices advantageous.
• Comfort working with cleaning equipment and washers.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate in a small animal care team.

Responsabilités

• Provide humane care and treatment for all species housed in the animal care unit.
• Perform routine animal husbandry: feeding, watering, cleaning cages and rooms.
• Receive incoming animals, verify identification, and place in housing per protocols.
• Handle animals safely, including identification and randomization for research studies.
• Assist with equipment maintenance such as washers, scales, and balances.
• Maintain accurate records per SOPs and regulations (USDA, FDA, AAALAC).
• Keep study areas clean, organized, stocked, and ready for staff.
• Assist veterinarian with exams, treatments, and health programs.
• Support studies, including dosing techniques under supervision.
• Work weekends/holidays/on-call rotations.
• Adhere to policies, safety, and biosecurity practices.
• Collaborate with animal care and research staff to ensure quality care.
