The University of Kentucky is seeking an Animal Care Technician I to join the Division of Laboratory Animal Resources (DLAR) in Lexington, KY. This full-time role supports high-quality animal care and research operations, including cage washing, animal husbandry, and meticulous documentation.

Responsibilities include maintaining SOP compliance, reporting health or environmental changes, and assisting with staff training.

Qualifications

• Must have high school education and 1 year of related experience.
• Ability to follow DLAR SOPs and safety procedures.
• Willingness to learn animal species requirements and cage wash processes.

Responsabilités

• Clean and sterilize cages, equipment, and rooms per SOPs.
• Provide routine animal care including feeding and water per diets.
• Observe animals and document changes in health or environment.
• Receive, house, and transfer incoming rodents and small animals with proper paperwork.
• Maintain care checklists, room logs, and equipment records.
• Support training of staff in cage wash activities and basic animal care.
