Job Description

Our East Syracuse, NY laboratory is seeking a Lab Analyst to join the GCMS team. The Lab Analyst is responsible for preparing and analyzing samples with accuracy and precision according to SGS's SOPs. The role requires working both independently and as part of a team to meet daily production targets, ensuring hold times and turnaround times are met. The Lab Analyst should understand and apply basic analytical chemistry principles, always following safe laboratory practices to maintain a safe working environment.

Job Functions

• Independently prepare and analyze samples using instrumentation specific to the department and methodologies after appropriate training.
• Perform routine operation, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory instruments.
• Assist with validation and MDL studies.
• Help investigate and respond to client inquiries and Corrective Action Requests (CARs).
• Maintain technical documentation and laboratory notebooks as required.
• Follow internal standards, policies, and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Chemistry or a similar scientific discipline with 0-2 years of experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories OR 3 years of relevant experience (e.g., Sample Prep).
• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or a related field with 1-2 years of relevant experience (preferred).
• Advanced English language skills.
• Basic reasoning, mathematical, and computer skills.
• Ability to lift/carry/push or pull up to 25 lbs regularly.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly rate is $23.50 - $25.00 depending on experience. The position is eligible for overtime pay and our Step Up program. Benefits include participation in company benefit programs, immediate 401K eligibility, paid vacation, floating holidays, observed holidays, and sick time accrual.
