Job summary

SGS North America Inc. in Reno, NV is seeking a Laboratory Analyst to prepare and analyze samples in accordance with SGS SOPs and safety practices. You will work both independently and in teams to meet daily targets and ensure hold and turnaround times.

The role emphasizes basic analytical chemistry principles, instrument calibration, and accurate data handling. Experience with GC-MS, LIMS and MS Office is preferred, with physical ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Chemistry or 0-2 years in Analytical Chemistry OR 3 years in Sample Prep (Required)
• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or similar (Preferred)
• Basic mathematical and reasoning skills (Required)
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) (Required)
• Experience with GC-MS and Organics methods (Preferred)
• Experience with LIMS (Preferred)
• Ability to lift/carry/push up to 25 lbs (Required)

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze samples according to SGS SOPs using department instrumentation
• Perform routine operation, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory instruments
• May assist with validation and MDL studies
• Assist with investigations and responses to client inquiries and CARs
• Input and maintain technical information to support laboratory operations
• Maintain Laboratory Notebook where applicable
• Adhere to internal standards, policies and procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned

Job DescriptionOur Reno, NV laboratory is looking for a Laboratory Analyst to join their team! The Laboratory Analyst prepares and analyzes samples with accuracy and precision in accordance to SGS' analytical SOPs. The Laboratory Analyst works independently and as part of a team to meet daily production targets and ensure hold times and turnaround times are met. The Laboratory Analyst understands and applies basic analytical chemistry principles. The Laboratory Analyst always follows safe laboratory practices and maintains a safe working environment.

Job functions

• After appropriate training independently prepares and analyzes samples according to SGS' analytical SOPs using instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies
• Performs routine operation, maintenance, calibration of laboratory instruments/equipment
• May assist with validation and MDL studies.
• Assists with investigation, and preparation of responses to client inquiries and CARs.
• Inputs and maintains technical information as needed to support the laboratory functions/operations.
• Maintains Laboratory Notebook where applicable
• Adheres to internal standards, policies and procedures
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in a Chemistry or similar scientific discipline and 0-2 years of experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories OR 3 years of relevant experience (i.e. Sample Prep) (Required)
• Bachelor's Degree in a Chemistry or similar scientific discipline and 1-2 years of years' relevant experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories (Preferred)
• Basic mathematical and reasoning skills (Required)
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) (Required)
• Experience with GCMS and Organics methods (Preferred)
• Experience with LIMS (Preferred)
• Ability to lift/carry/push and/or pull upwards of 25 lbs on a frequent basis (Required)
