Job summary

Catapult Federal Services is seeking an experienced L3 Data Center Technician to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of enterprise-scale data center infrastructure in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment. This hands-on role focuses on ensuring the reliability and performance of server, storage, networking, and GPU-based systems.

As an L3 technician, you will work independently on complex hardware deployments, repairs, and diagnostics while collaborating

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in enterprise or hyperscale data center environments.
  • Strong experience with enterprise server hardware and x86 architecture.
  • Experience with GPU-based systems, storage, and enterprise networking equipment.
  • Hands-on experience performing rack and stack deployments.
  • Experience with structured copper and fiber cabling.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing server hardware.
  • Knowledge of power distribution systems (PDUs).
  • Experience using remote management tools such as iLO, iDRAC, IPMI, or Redfish.
  • Understanding of Layer 1 and basic Layer 2 networking concepts.
  • Ability to read rack elevations, network diagrams, cable matrices, and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems and basic command-line troubleshooting.
  • Experience using ServiceNow, Jira, or similar ITSM/ticketing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and decommission enterprise servers, storage, and networking equipment.
  • Perform advanced rack and stack deployments, including rail installation, structured cabling, and power distribution.
  • Diagnose and repair hardware failures involving servers, GPUs, storage systems, and networking devices.
  • Execute BIOS and firmware updates, hardware replacements, and system validation.
  • Support large-scale hardware deployments, migrations, refreshes, and expansion projects.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for infrastructure issues.
  • Monitor environmental conditions and equipment health using DCIM and monitoring tools.
  • Follow operational procedures, documentation standards, and change management processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Mentor L1/L2 technicians with technical guidance and escalation support.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, security policies, and ESD procedures.
  • Participate in maintenance windows and on-call support as needed.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced L3 Data Center Technician to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of enterprise-scale data center infrastructure in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment. This is a hands-on role responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of server, storage, networking, and GPU-based systems.

As an L3 technician, you'll work independently to perform complex hardware deployments, repairs, and diagnostics while collaborating with engineering, networking, operations, logistics, and facilities teams. You'll also provide technical guidance to junior technicians and help maintain operational excellence through established processes, documentation, and best practices.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving challenging infrastructure problems, working with cutting-edge enterprise hardware, and supporting large-scale data center operations.

Duties & Responsibilities

Pay & Benefits Summary

  • Pay Rate: Up to $50/hour
  • Contract Length: 12+ months
  • Work Schedule: Sunday – Wednesday, 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM
