Job description

Overview

Transdev's Autonomous Mobility & Fleet Specialists are critical to delivering safe autonomous driving systems, enabling a revolutionary mobility experience. The dynamic role encompasses autonomous vehicle operations, fleet logistics, and field recovery. If hired, you will be trained across multiple functions and may be deployed in any of these capacities depending on operational needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain Transdev's high standard of safety, situational awareness, and professionalism inside and outside the vehicle at all times.
  • Demonstrate superior situational awareness and proactive willingness to adjust to rapid changes.
  • Safely operate and evaluate vehicles in autonomous and manual modes, including proficiency in manual transmission driving across defined and undefined routes and closed‑course facilities.
  • Monitor multiple software systems and onboard data recording computers with constant focus.
  • Provide concise, clear, and accurate verbal and written feedback, daily reports, and documentation regarding vehicle operations and software releases.
  • Ride comfortably as a passenger in an autonomous vehicle where the operator may have little or no control.
  • Coordinate vehicle batch setups prior to shift arrivals, ensuring the fleet is clean and fully prepared.
  • Follow diagnostic guides to troubleshoot driver support modules and communicate with technical support for escalation.
  • Assist as a spotter for vehicle movements in depots, parking spots, and remote locations.
  • Oversee asset security processes, including managing vehicle keys and accounting for data disks.
  • Operate a non‑autonomous vehicle to monitor driverless vehicle locations and respond to recovery or rescue situations.
  • Execute safe vehicle recovery operations, including scene protection and disengagement of autonomous software.
  • Deliver customer service and roadside assistance to driverless vehicle passengers.
  • Act as a professional representative at remote operational sites.
  • Work flexibly, alone or in small teams, adapting quickly to shifting operational demands.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of driving experience on public roads.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; a four‑year college degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Preferred: 6 months of autonomous vehicle testing, specialist experience, or fleet deployment operations.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Technical proficiency with touchscreen smartphones (Android preferred) and laptops, including GSuite applications.
  • Typing speed of at least 40 words per minute.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Adaptability and judgment in multitasking across technologies under high‑stress environments.
  • Exceptional driving skills, including parallel parking.
  • Schedule flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, evenings, overnights, and weekends; ability to work overtime and be recalled at short notice.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to one month at a time, with overall travel demands of 20‑25%.
  • Comfortable performing 6‑ to 8‑hour shifts, primarily outdoors and in extreme environments, inside a compact crossover vehicle.
Physical Requirements
  • Routine use of hands/fingers for handling, reaching, or typing; ability to climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision requirements: close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
  • Periodic operation of alternative transportation modes, such as a bicycle or scooter, if required.
  • Comfortable entering, exiting, and performing core duties within a compact crossover vehicle for 6–8 hours per shift.
Pre‑Employment Requirements
  • Age 21 or older.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record meeting state Autonomous Vehicle Tester (AVT) regulations.
  • No men's license suspensions or revocations for DUI within the last 10 years.
  • No history of being an at‑fault driver in an accident that caused injury or death.
  • Ability to qualify for and maintain an AVT license/permit where required.
  • Completion of background check, drug screen, and physical screening.
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. without restrictions.

Pay Rate

$23.00 - $25.00 per hour.
