Job summary

Atrium is seeking an experienced L2 Data Center Technician to join its onsite Reno infrastructure team. You will perform hands-on rack-and-stack, server hardware installs, cabling, and break-fix in a fast-paced data center environment.

This is 100% onsite, with immediate start, and requires strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow SOPs. Prior data center experience and familiarity with ITSM ticketing are essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

This is a hands-on technical role supporting critical data center hardware, servers, network equipment, cabling, and infrastructure. The team is looking to hire ASAP, making this an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional who is available to start quickly. Join a fast-paced technical team supporting mission-critical data center infrastructure. This opportunity is best suited for an experienced L2 Data Center Technician who can hit the ground running and is already comfortable with rack-and-stack, server hardware, cabling, break/fix, and hands-on infrastructure support.

Salary/Hourly Rate

$30/hr - $34/hr (DOE)

Position Overview

The L2 Data Center Technician will provide hands-on support for day-to-day data center operations, including rack-and-stack, server installation, hardware troubleshooting, break/fix, cabling, equipment deployment, and ticket resolution. Candidates must have previous hands-on data center experience and be confident independently performing rack-and-stack activities. This is not an entry-level desktop support position. Rack-and-stack experience is required for consideration.

Responsibilities Of The L2 Data Center Technician

• Perform rack-and-stack installation and removal of servers, switches, storage devices, and other data center equipment.
• Install, configure, move, and decommission physical hardware.
• Perform hands-on break/fix and hardware troubleshooting.
• Diagnose and replace failed server components, including drives, memory, power supplies, and network cards.
• Install, trace, label, and troubleshoot copper and fiber cabling.
• Verify physical network connections and equipment connectivity.
• Perform equipment deployments, moves, adds, and changes.
• Troubleshoot server and network hardware issues.
• Manage incidents and service requests through ITSM/ticketing systems.
• Maintain accurate asset, inventory, and equipment documentation.
• Perform Smart Hands/Remote Hands support for the Engineering and Infrastructure teams.
• Follow established SOPs, runbooks, safety requirements, and escalation procedures.
• Document completed work and elevate complex technical issues when necessary.

Required Experience/Skills For The L2 Data Center Technician

• Previous hands-on Data Center Technician experience is required.
• Strong rack-and-stack experience is required.
• Experience installing and removing servers, switches, and other rack-mounted equipment.
• Strong server hardware troubleshooting and break/fix skills.
• Experience with copper and/or fiber cabling.
• Knowledge of data center hardware and physical infrastructure.
• Basic networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, Ethernet, ports, and connectivity.
• Experience working with ITSM or ticketing systems.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot hardware issues.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical procedures.
• Ability to work in a physically active data center environment.
• Must be able to work 100% onsite in Reno, Nevada.
• Must be available for an ASAP start.

Preferred Experience/Skills For The L2 Data Center Technician

• Experience with enterprise servers, storage systems, switches, and routers.
• Smart Hands / Remote Hands experience.
• Knowledge of structured cabling and fiber infrastructure.
• Familiarity with rack layouts, PDUs, A/B power, and data center power infrastructure.
• Experience with asset management and hardware inventory systems.
• Previous experience in a large-scale data center, colocation facility, NOC, or enterprise infrastructure environment.

Education Requirements

• Associate degree, technical certification, or IT-related education is preferred.
