Job summary

Denver Public Schools is seeking an Apprentice L1 to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair District heavy equipment and small engines. You will perform scheduled maintenance, prep job sites safely, and follow schematics to diagnose issues.

This on-site role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and relevant experience. You’ll work with diverse teams, participate in cross-training, and support on-call snow removal and emergency response, contributing to the District's equity and safety goals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2–10 years related experience; L1 requires 2 years.
• Experience with preventive maintenance software preferred.
• Experience with automotive and diesel electrical systems preferred; ASE/CERT beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots, diagnoses and repairs for District heavy equipment
• Performs scheduled maintenance on District heavy equipment and small engines
• Prepares and cleans up job site with safety considerations
• Diagnoses, repairs, and replaces motor control circuits using schematics
• Reviews work orders and procures supplies via DPSc purchase system
• Cross-trains in at least one other trade
• Assists with snow removal on a 24-hour on-call basis
• Responds to emergencies 24/7
