Labor & Delivery RN Job Details

• Location: Hendersonville, TN (zip 37075) – Greater Nashville area
• Healthcare Setting: OB Unit
• Employment Type: Locum tenens (travel nursing contract)
• Start Date: July 21, 2025
• End Date: October 20, 2025
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Nursing Shift: 12-hour nights (19:00–07:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1800–$1840
• Unit Details: 20 LDRPs, 5 OB assessment beds
• Patient Ratios: 1:3–4 couplets, 1:1 for active labor and high-acuity cases
• Staffing Support: Unit secretary (Mon–Fri), Patient Care Technician (Mon–Fri, 3am–11:30am), OB scrub tech (24/7)
• Technology: GE fetal monitors, Novii wireless monitors
• Documentation Systems: CPN and Meditech
• Dress Code: Shocking pink scrubs
  
  

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license (Tennessee or compact state)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience
• Intermediate fetal monitoring skills (AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring)
• Labor & Delivery triage experience
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP, STABLE, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
• Ability to provide couplet care and circulate in the operating room (OR)
  
  

Labor & Delivery Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care to laboring mothers and newborns in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, C-sections, versions, epidurals, postpartum tubals, cerclage removals, and circumcisions
• Provide couplet care and triage for early labor and cervical ripening
• Utilize bedside shift reporting to enhance patient experience
• Document patient care accurately using CPN and Meditech electronic health record systems
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure excellent patient outcomes
• Participate in innovative pilot programs focused on improving nurse workload and patient outcomes
