Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to own and operate Kubernetes-based PaaS in a high-stakes space environment. You’ll manage on-prem and cloud deployments (AWS/Azure), patch systems, ensure uptime, and support telemetry and AI workloads. Collaboration with rocket scientists and engineers is essential.

Minimum requirements include a STEM degree and 8+ years delivering distributed software, plus 2+ years Kubernetes experience. A TS/SCI clearance is required; U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM, Computer Science or related engineering field.
• 8+ years delivering complex distributed software systems and services.
• 5+ years supporting highly available enterprise environments.
• 2+ years hands-on Kubernetes on-prem and cloud deployments.
• Production Kubernetes ownership on-premises and cloud (AWS/Azure).
• Linux administration in enterprise environments.
• Strong networking and storage fundamentals.
• Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Developing and sustaining Kubernetes-based PaaS services (e.g., Coder workspaces, Knative).
• Manage production Kubernetes on-premises and cloud environments (AWS/Azure).
• Perform security patching across Kubernetes layers to maintain high uptime.
• Own production Kubernetes services for on-prem and cloud providers.
• Resolve Kubernetes stack engineering problems independently.
• Support real-time telemetry analysis for space launch partners.
• Provide after-hours Kubernetes troubleshooting during launches.
• Assist scientists and engineers running apps in Kubernetes.
• Provide Linux expertise and troubleshooting.
• Evaluate and test new products and technologies.
