Job summary

Okta is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to design and manage scalable Kubernetes platforms on AWS. You will automate deployments with Helm and Karpenter, configure Istio, and optimize cost, reliability, and security across multi-region cloud environments.

This role requires in-depth Kubernetes expertise and strong scripting, with on-site onboarding in Chicago or San Francisco. You will collaborate with security, platform, and DevOps teams to drive reliable, scalable, and observable

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience with Kubernetes/Helm
• 4+ years of Experience with Terraform
• 5+ years of Experience with AWS
• Experience with multi-region cloud environments
• Proven experience with AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, CloudFormation, IAM, etc.) and solid understanding of cloud-native architectures
• Strong expertise in Kubernetes platform creation, management, and optimisation
• Hands-on experience with Helm for Kubernetes deployment
• Practical experience with Karpenter for dynamic scaling of Kubernetes clusters and securing Istio
• Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines and automation tools (Jenkins, GitLab, CircleCI, Terraform, Ansible, Spinnaker)
• Scripting in Python, Bash, or Go for infra management and automation
• Experience with monitoring/logging/alerting tools (Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, ELK Stack)

Responsibilities

• Kubernetes Platform Creation: Design, implement, and maintain high-availability Kubernetes platforms
• AWS Infrastructure Management: Build and optimize AWS cloud infrastructure (EC2, RDS, S3, VPCs, IAM)
• Helm Management: Create and maintain Helm charts for deployments
• Karpenter Implementation: Dynamically scale Kubernetes clusters
• Istio Service Mesh Management: Configure service mesh for traffic mgmt and observability
• Platform Automation & Scaling: Automate deployment and scaling with CI/CD pipelines
• Incident Management & Troubleshooting: Respond to incidents and resolve issues
• Security & Compliance: Design secure cloud infra with proper access controls
• Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Document procedures and promote best practices
