Job summary

Okta is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to design and manage Kubernetes platforms on AWS, using Helm, Karpenter, and Istio for scalable, secure cloud-native services. You’ll automate deployment, monitor performance, and ensure cost-efficiency across multi-region environments.

The role requires hands-on experience with Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and modern tooling. In-person onboarding in SF or Chicago with strict security and compliance expectations is expected.

Qualifications

• 4+ years building Kubernetes/Helm platforms.
• 5+ years AWS experience incl EC2, RDS, S3.
• Experience with multi-region cloud environments.
• Strong scripting in Python, Bash, or Go.
• CI/CD automation experience.
• Security and compliance awareness.

Responsibilities

• Kubernetes Platform Creation: Design, implement, and maintain highly available, scalable Kubernetes platforms.
• AWS Infrastructure Management: Build, manage, optimize AWS cloud infrastructure, including cost management, security.
• Helm Management: Automate deployment with Helm charts for production deployments.
• Karpenter Implementation: Dynamically scale Kubernetes clusters to workload demands.
• Istio Service Mesh Management: Configure and manage Istio for secure service-to-service communication.
• Platform Automation & Scaling: Automate deployment and scaling; integrate CI/CD pipelines for smooth dev-to-prod flow.
• Incident Management & Troubleshooting: Respond to incidents and resolve performance/availability issues.
• Security & Compliance: Design secure cloud infra with access controls and compliance frameworks.
• Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain docs on Kubernetes platform setup and best practices.
