Job summary

Apple Inc. in Austin, Texas seeks a Software Engineer to design, develop, and operate reliable cloud platforms and services. You will advance production systems, Kubernetes platforms, cloud infrastructure, observability, analytics, and AI/ML workloads.

You'll combine software engineering with reliability practices, building automation to reduce toil and improve deployment, monitoring, and security while collaborating with SRE, AI/ML, and software teams.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Python and/or Go (Golang), writing clean, maintainable, testable code.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containers, deploying/troubleshooting applications; familiarity with Helm or Kustomize is preferred.
• Experience with major cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• Infrastructure as Code familiarity with Terraform, Ansible, or similar automation technologies.
• Understanding of reliability concepts: monitoring, alerting, SLIs/SLOs, incident management, capacity planning, and automation.
• Experience with observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or similar.
• Ability to analyze system data to identify trends and troubleshoot issues; knowledge of SQL and data analysis is a plus.
• Knowledge of distributed systems concepts including availability, scalability, networking, fault tolerance, and performance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software, services, APIs, tools, and automation with Python and Go.
• Build and improve cloud-native services and platform capabilities across production and non-production environments.
• Deploy, operate, and troubleshoot applications and services on Kubernetes; develop automation to simplify deployment and platform operations.
• Apply reliability engineering practices to improve system availability, performance, and efficiency.
• Develop dashboards and reporting to provide actionable insights from logs, metrics, traces, and analytics.
