Job summary

NVIDIA is seeking a principal software engineer to advance the Kubernetes platform that powers our GPU infrastructure and managed services. You will lead architecture and delivery across cluster lifecycle, control planes, and automation for scalable AI deployments.

This role combines platform engineering, reliability, and collaboration with multiple teams to raise the bar on design quality and high-impact innovations.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of software engineering experience, including building and operating large-scale production systems.
• Deep expertise in Kubernetes internals, APIs, controllers or operators, and cluster lifecycle management.
• Strong background in distributed systems design, reliability, scalability, and failure recovery.
• Proven experience building platform software, infrastructure control planes, or foundations for managed services.
• Strong programming skills in Go, Python, Rust, or C++.
• Experience designing clear APIs and abstractions for platform consumers and engineering teams.
• Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership across team boundaries and drive cross-functional initiatives to completion.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a track record of architectural contributions.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and development of core Kubernetes platform capabilities including cluster management and day-2 operations.
• Design and build reliable distributed systems and APIs for provisioning, managing, and upgrading Kubernetes clusters at scale.
• Define requirements, validation, production-readiness, and declarative workflows across the Kubernetes stack.
• Collaborate across teams to create cohesive platform experiences spanning APIs, lifecycle orchestration, and fleet consistency.
• Diagnose and resolve complex platform issues across infrastructure, runtime, networking, and hardware to improve scalability and operability for large-scale AI deployments.
• Influence engineering standards and long-term platform strategy; mentor senior engineers and improve design quality across the organization.
