Job summary

Penske, a leading transportation and technology solutions provider, is seeking a Systems Engineer to join the ITDS team in Reading, PA. The role focuses on Kubernetes hosting environments (OpenShift) and enterprise Linux infrastructure, delivering reliable systems and automation.

You will implement, maintain, and support IT services, including security, backups, and disaster recovery, while collaborating with global teams to ensure high availability and performance.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering or related field preferred; if no degree, 3 years of relevant experience required.
• Minimum of 3 years hands-on systems engineering in production Kubernetes environments.
• Advanced Linux / Middleware skills.
• Foundational knowledge of Git, Kubernetes, Docker/Podman (containerized workloads).
• Experience creating automated scripts and cloud knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Monitor Kubernetes and Linux systems to ensure integrity and availability.
• Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and maintain Kubernetes and associated middleware platforms.
• Provide technical direction to IT support staff and coordinate tests for design implementations.
• Maintain system performance, backups, and disaster recovery planning.
• Build and document PTL ITDS Web Services environments and automate processes with IaC tools.
• Provide 7x24x365 support for critical environments.
