Job summary

Gromelski and Associates, Inc. is seeking a Network Architect in Manassas, VA to design, implement, and optimize complex DoD-grade network solutions. The role emphasizes Kubernetes, CNI technologies, and secure communications across subsystems with a focus on reliability and expansion.

You will interact with customers and developers to ensure seamless integration and scalable performance. Ideal candidates bring a strong background in routing, ACLs, VLANs, VxLAN, and Linux tooling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, or equivalent experience with up to 3 years of professional experience.
• Strong communication skills.
• U.S. citizen able to obtain/maintain DoD Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate dual CNI/plugins for MTU sizes; assess single vs dual MTUs for PaaS environments; familiarity with Calico, Cilium, Flannels, Canal.
• Migrate to a 10.CCE for the PaaS network; reduce ACLs for Control Plane traffic while maintaining subnet ingress/egress.
• Assess use of Broadcast on VxLAN for applications.
• Perform network engineering in support of the Network Working Group (NWG IPT).
• Oversee network monitoring, configuration management, and performance/failure analysis.
• Interface with customers, developers and support programs to ensure optimal communications between subsystems.
• Design and planning of computer network communications; create specs and schematics for architecture across subsystems.
• Evaluate and recommend network hardware/software choices to meet current and future capacity needs.
• Conduct performance and failover testing of network devices and assess impact on system stability.
• Maintain expertise in firewalls, routers, switches, gateways, OSI layers 1–4, middleware, etc.
• Evaluate new technologies to enhance network performance and monitoring.
• Prepare network documentation for working group presentations.
