Job summary

The Ohio State University is seeking a Krauss Dairy Farm Coordinator 1 at the Wooster Dairy Center to support dairy teaching, research and Extension activities. You will assist with milking, feeding, breeding, and general farm work while following SOPs and SMPs in compliance with IACUC standards.

You will prep cattle for trials, collect samples, weigh and record data, and assist with digestion and mastitis research. Shifts vary; weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

  • No prior experience required; 0 years acceptable with preference for 0-2 years.
  • Ability to follow SOPs, SMPs and IACUC standards in a dairy setting.

Position located at Wooster.Job Duties:40%: Provides general assistances in dairy animal care such as milking, feeding, breeding, manure handling, health care, record keeping and general farm work. Follows standard operation procedures (SOP’s), standard management plans (SMP’s) while in compliance with IACUC animal care standards.40%: Preps cattle for experimental trials, collects milk, feed, excreta and other samples, weighs and records amount of feed, milk and excreta; maintains records and enters data for digestion, metabolism and mastitis trials.20%: Performs other general duties related to dairy cattle husbandry, including research, teaching and Extension needs.MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSHigh School diploma or GED. 0 years of relevant experience required. 0-2 years of relevant experience preferred.Salary Range- $ 15.15 - $19.79Additional Information:This job profile is a Farm Coordinator 1 (T1 level) on the career roadmap.The offer for this position will fall within the positions pay range based on internal equity, unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications.This is a Classified Civil Service position, which includes a 180-day probationary period.Location:Krauss Dairy Research Facility (0426)Position Type:RegularScheduled Hours:40Shift:Varying ShiftsFinal candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check.
