Job summary
The Korea Foundation Professorship of Korean Studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago invites applications for a full-time tenured or tenure-track position (open rank). The appointment begins in August 2027, pending final budgetary approval.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise MA theses, and contribute to curriculum development, student advising, and service within a vibrant, research-oriented department of art history and design.
Qualifications
- PhD in Korean art history or related field, or ABD with defense timeline.
- Strong record of scholarly research and publication.
- Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in art history and Korean studies.
- Willingness to develop new courses and contribute to curriculum.
- Interest in connecting Korean art history to global histories.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Art History, Theory, and Criticism.
- Supervise MA theses and contribute to graduate seminars.
- Participate in curriculum development, student advising, and governance.
- Contribute to departmental and school-wide service and programming.
