Job summary

Mansfield Service Partners in Houston, TX seeks a Knuckle Boom Operator / Equipment Service Technician to support our fuel and lubricant equipment operations. You will operate a knuckle-boom crane to place and remove petroleum tanks and perform installations at customer sites.

Qualified candidates have a Class A CDL with HazMat Tanker Endorsement, NCCCO or equivalent crane certification, and 2 years of knuckle-boom/crane-truck experience, plus 1 year mechanical and 1 year pump experience.

Qualifications

  • NC CC CO Crane Operator certification or equivalent to knuckle-boom operations.
  • Class A CDL with air brakes and HazMat Tanker Endorsement required.
  • Two years driving experience operating a knuckle-boom or crane truck.
  • One year mechanical experience (automotive, industrial machinery, valves, pumps).
  • One year experience with fuel and lubricant pumps, nozzles, fittings.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a knuckle-boom crane to lift, load, transport, place, and unload petroleum tanks weighing 1,200–11,000 lbs.
  • Deliver and pick up skid tanks ranging from 500 to 4,000 gallons, including tanks with hazardous-material residue.
  • Perform pre- and post-operation inspections of the crane and related equipment.
  • Use proper rigging techniques to lift and maneuver tanks and other heavy equipment.
  • Inspect slings, chains, hooks, and other rigging equipment before use and ensure equipment is appropriate for each load.
  • Secure loads and verify proper balance and stability throughout lifting, transportation, and unloading.
  • Complete tank rig-outs, staging, and equipment installations according to customer requirements.
  • Perform field service calls, repairs, preventive maintenance, and inspections when not completing tank deliveries.
  • Inspect and maintain tanks, pumps, hoses, nozzles, fittings, dispensers, and related equipment.
  • Manage lubricant inventory and assist with filling totes, drums, and pails to meet customer orders.
  • Transport lubricant totes between locations using a box truck.
  • Use computerized fuel-management systems and assist with fuel and lubricant sampling services.
  • Clean, prepare, and paint tanks and containment pans as needed.
  • Inspect fueling equipment for leaks, damage, maintenance needs, and other safety concerns.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work and tank-staging area.
  • Identify and report customer-service, equipment, and safety concerns.
  • Follow all DOT, CDL, crane-operation, Safety, Health & Environmental (SH&E), and Mansfield safety requirements.

Job description

Mansfield Service Partners is looking for a Knuckle Boom Operator / Equipment Service Technician to support our fuel and lubricant equipment operations in Houston, TX.

This is a hands-on field role focused on operating a knuckle-boom crane to place and remove petroleum tanks. You’ll transport, set, and remove petroleum tanks at customer locations and perform tank rig-outs, equipment installations, service calls, inspections, maintenance, and repairs on all fuel and lubricant equipment.

A Class A CDL is required to transport tanks and equipment, but this is not a traditional driving position. We’re looking for someone with knuckle-boom or crane-truck experience who is mechanically inclined and comfortable working hands-on with tanks, pumps, hoses, fittings, and related equipment.

Minimum Education, Experience and Certification
  • Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) or equivalent to knuckle boom operations.
  • Class A CDL with air brakes HazMat Tanker Endorsement Required

Physical And Environmental Conditions

The position is located in an outdoors environment frequent encounters dirt and dust, noise and vibration, fumes and odors and wetness/humidity. May be frequently exposed to mechanical, chemical, and electrical hazards. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. This position may require travel via vehicle and airplane. Employee may be required to sit for long periods of time. The incumbent frequently lifts up to 25 lbs.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Working hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. This position does not generally require long hours and weekend work, but it may be necessary on occasion. Must be willing and able to travel up to 25%.
