Residential dining staff work closely with the teams in retail andIMU dining to ensure consistent procurement of products that matchstudent preferences and dietary needs.

Job Summary

The Kitchen Utility Attendants do a combination of traditionalcustodial work as well as ware-washing and dishwashing tasks.

General Responsibilities
  • Performs general kitchen sanitation duties and tasks anddirects, teaches, and monitors assigned student and other temporaryemployees in the proper performance of custodial activities.
  • Performs a variety of heavy labor tasks for general kitchenoperations; cleans and maintains assigned equipment such as floorscrubbers, carpet vacuums, etc.
  • Washes windows and interior/exterior surfaces in dining rooms,assigned lobby areas, kitchen offices, and all other diningfacility areas.
  • Separates and removes trash and garbage and places it indesignated containers; supports and practices departmentalstandards related to waste recycling; cleans out garbage cans.
  • Performs ware-washing duties and tasks.
  • Cleans and sanitizes pots, pans, food preparation equipment,and trays.
  • Cleans, sanitizes and performs routine preventive maintenanceon dishwasher and other mechanical food preparation equipment.
  • Transfers supplies and equipment between delivery point,storage, and work areas; loads or unloads trucks picking up ordelivering supplies.
  • Collects and delivers items for store room operations when theStores Representative is not available.
  • Refills and organizes service tray display counters, cabinets,or tables; sets up tables and other furniture and equipment.
  • Directs, teaches, and monitors assigned student and othertemporary employees in the proper performance of basic ware-washingtasks.

Working Conditions / Demands

This role regularly requires the ability to effectivelycommunicate. This role frequently requires the ability to handleequipment. This role frequently requires the ability to remainstationary and ascend/descend ladders/stairs. This role frequentlyrequires the ability to move objects weighing 20 to 50 pounds. Therole requires the ability to detect items in close proximity aswell as far away; discern between colors; detect objects inperipheral space of self; discern items in detail; and to have gooddepth perception. This role works indoors around high temperaturesand loud noises. This role involves handling meat and plant-basedfood products as well as a variety of ingredients that may includesome or all of the top 9 allergens during the course of cleaningand ware-washing tasks. The person in this role must be abletoperform the essential functions with or without anaccommodation.

Advertised Salary

$15.00 per hour.

Dining and Hospitality is currently paying a shift premium of $1.50per hour on top of the regular hourly rate for hours worked between2 PM and 12 AM, provided at least 6 hours are worked between thosetimes

Work Hours

2:30 PM to 11:00 PM Monday-Friday with alternating weekends

Management reserves the right to adjust work hours to accommodateneed, special meals and events.
