Job summary

Mamahuhu in San Francisco is seeking a Kitchen Team Member focusing on dish and prep to keep the back-of-house moving. You'll prep ingredients to recipe standards, manage the dish station, and help the team ensure a smooth service.

You'll work 4 days a week, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with weekend availability required, and enjoy benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance, daily employee meals, and a competitive $19.61/hour wage plus tips.

Qualifications

• Must have an up-to-date Food Handler's Card.
• Experience in a kitchen, dish, or prep role preferred, but we'll train the right person.
• Comfortable with knife work, or eager to learn.
• Able to stand for a full shift and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Organized, self-motivated, and good at communicating.
• Team player who works well in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Prep ingredients (washing, cutting, portioning, marinating, and sauces) to recipe and quality standards.
• Run the dish station: wash, sanitize, and put away dishes, pots, utensils, and smallwares.
• Label, date, rotate, and restock product using FIFO (First-In, First-Out).
• Watch prep levels and let the team know when items are running low.
• Keep the dish area, prep stations, and walk-in clean and organized.
• Set up and break down stations using restaurant checklists.
• Follow SF Health Department practices (e.g., changing sanitizer buckets, food safety protocols).
• Take out trash, recycling, and compost, and help with other side work.
• Support the line and the team as needed.
• Complete tasks assigned by restaurant and kitchen management.

About The Role

Our kitchen is built around a custom wok range with 120,000 BTU burners. Cooking that fast only works when everything is ready before service starts: vegetables cut, meats marinated and sliced thin, sauces made, and everything in its place. That's where you come in. As a Kitchen Team Member on dish and prep, you keep the kitchen running. You'll prep ingredients to recipe standards, keep the dish station moving so the line never runs out of clean wares, and help the whole back-of-house team stay set up for a smooth service.

Schedule

• 4 days a week: Monday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Hours: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
• Weekend availability required
