Isaac's Restaurants is hiring for a kitchen team member to help prep, cook and plate items, while keeping a clean, safe back-of-house. The role emphasizes accurate food handling, timely prep, and assisting with dishes and takeout orders.

Strong communication and teamwork are valued; some high school education is required. No previous foodservice experience is necessary, but helpful for this role.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prep, cook, slice menu items according to standard recipes with proper timing.

• Use restaurant equipment safely and consistently; select correct knife.
• Maintain urgency; complete prep list and clean workstation after shift.
• Assist with dishwashing and takeout orders; explain menu to customers.

Position Summary

All kitchen team members are responsible for doing theirpart in delivering an excellent guest experience to our customers whilemaintaining a sanitary and safe kitchen and work station in the back of house.

Major Responsibilities

• Prep / cook / slice menu/prep items according to methodsdescribed in the standard recipes in an amount of time to ensure safefood-handling and timely availability.
• Properly dates, labels and rotates all prepped items, storing them inappropriate locations.
• Complies with all portion sizes, quality standards and safety rules.
• Properly uses all restaurant equipment, following procedures for both productconsistency and safety.
• Selects the correct knife for the appropriate job.
• Works with a sense of urgency and completes assigned prep list in a timelymanner.
• Cleans and inspects work area at the end of each shift, as specified in theappropriate checklists.
• Informs Manager on Duty of inventory supply needs daily and as needed.
• Assists with tasks throughout the restaurant, such as dishwashing, as neededor requested by the Manager on Duty.
• Answers phone and accurately handles takeout orders according to properprocedures.
• Demonstrates a complete understanding of menu, passing the menu test with a75% or better and accurately explains the menu to customers.
• Cleans up spills in the kitchen immediately.
• Keeps floors and work surfaces clean, sanitized and free of debris.
• Assists with trash removal (and recycling bins where appropriate) fromrestaurant and replaces with new bags.
• Responsible for assisting with daily and weekly cleaning side jobs throughoutthe restaurant.
• Actively participates in food and labor cost control
• Maintains a professional appearance at all times, clean and well-groomed perIsaac’s standards.
• Abides by all policies, procedures and dress code requirements established byIsaac’s.

Job Specifications

Education

Some high school. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primarylanguage(s) of the work location. Must be able to speak and understand theprimary languages of the guests who typically visit the work location. Must beable to perform simple mathematical calculations. This position requires anability to learn standard kitchen and food preparation procedures andorganization.

Experience

No previous foodservice experience is needed, though it is helpful. Mustpossess good communication skills and be able to work well with others.
