About Us

Society of the Transfiguration is a non-for-profit organization in Cincinnati, OH. Our sole purpose is to serve others within our local community through our five ministries.

Job Summary

The Society of the Transfiguration is actively seeking a Kitchen Team Member to join our team. The ideal team member will be required to deliver high quality, nutritious meals, in addition to being adept when required to work independently. This is a full-time position, requiring a dependable candidate to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, as schedule dictates.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Prepares and cooks nutritious and appetizing meals from start to finish using various recipes, to be served at scheduled times.
  • Cleans and resets kitchen and dining room after service.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and reliably perform all assigned tasks.
  • Ability to work both in a team and independently.
  • May assist in ordering, purchasing and receiving of food and staples.
  • Participates in training as needed in all areas of food preparation and keeps a tidy workplace.
  • Ensures ServSafe compliance, following hygiene policies and equipment upkeep for cleanliness and proper operation.
  • Communicates regularly and transparently to the team and to the Dining Services Manager.
  • May be asked to obtain Level 1 Food Handler training if not already in possession of equivalent or greater food safety certificate.
  • Notifies the Dining Services Manager of safety or maintenance concerns immediately.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, empathy and compassion to those served.
  • Reports for duty at the times as indicated by schedule or direct communication from the Dining Services Manager.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Dining Services Manager.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to work as a team.
  • Flexibility in schedule to accommodate partner deliveries, meal distribution and covering absent team members if requested.
  • Availability on nights and weekends.
Education And Experience
  • Documented Culinary Training preferred; current ServSafe certification preferred.
  • One year experience working in a kitchen or food prep industry preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in teamwork and working towards a common goal.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Bend, kneel, push, pull and reach at regular intervals.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • May be exposed to cleaning and maintenance chemicals/odors.
