Job summary

Robinwood Retirement Community is seeking a Relief Kitchen Helper to support a great dining experience for our residents by preparing and stocking a fresh salad bar and assisting in the dining room with friendly service. You will also sanitize dishware and help keep kitchen areas clean and organized for daily meals.

Prior culinary experience is not required, and you can obtain required food handler permits within the first two weeks. Weekend shifts are available to fit the dining room operations.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Available to work Friday/Saturday 7:00am-2:30pm and Sunday/Monday 11:00am-7:30pm.
• Able to read, speak and understand basic English.
• No prior culinary experience required.
• Ability to obtain local food handler permits within first two weeks of first day of employment.

Responsibilities

• Operate the dish machine and report any mechanical issues while monitoring water temperatures for sanitization.
• Wash and store all tableware; keep the dish room clean and stocked with clean items for dining room and kitchen.
• Assist in the dining room by bussing tables, filling water carafes, preparing tables, and delivering room-service orders.
• Safely use ovens, steamers, grills, and kitchen tools including sharp utensils and small appliances to support daily food preparation.
• Listen and respond politely to food comments or complaints and report concerns to leadership.
• Perform support work and any additional tasks, including trash removal.
