Job summary

Serrato Corporation in Detroit is hiring a Dining Services Assistant to support cooks, prepare and serve meals, and maintain sanitary dining and kitchen spaces in a fast-paced environment.

You will rotate perishable items, assist with dishes, stock supplies, operate dish and prep equipment, and follow safety rules. A High School diploma and NRA Food Service Sanitation or Safe Serve certification are required, with 1–3 months of related experience.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic sanitation and cleaning procedures.
• Knowledge of general kitchen equipment and appliances.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work under direction of senior personnel.
• High level of organization, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with set up and breakdown of serving line.
• Help keep dining and kitchen areas clean and organized.
• Notify staff of items to replenish and restock.
• Rotate perishable items to ensure freshness.
• Serve students, staff, and guests in a pleasant, efficient manner.
• Assist with washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding vegetables and fruits.
• Operate kitchen equipment including dishwasher, slicer, and mixer.
• Follow safety and sanitary rules related to food handling.
