Job summary

The Industrialist in downtown Pittsburgh is seeking a Dishwasher/Steward to support kitchen operations by cleaning utensils and service ware, ensuring equipment is ready for staff, and maintaining sanitary conditions. Responsibilities include sorting soiled ware, washing and replacing items, maintaining dish areas, and following sanitation standards.

The role may include weekend and holiday shifts and requires adherence to safety guidelines.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Six months experience as a dishwasher, utility or steward.
Knowledge of safe chemical and equipment handling required.
Able to work with little or no supervision.
Operate equipment such as dishwasher, sprayer, and kitchen equipment.

Responsibilities

Promptly and carefully sort soiled ware so it can be processed by dish machines.
Wash all ware quickly and replace in designated storage areas.
Maintain dish areas and ensure washing equipment is functioning properly.
Understand dish machine operation for optimal use.
Keep floors clean and dry to prevent slips.
Organize and maintain trash areas and employee cafeteria.
Maintain sanitation laws and safety standards in the kitchen.
Label and store product deliveries as necessary.
Separate and organize garbage and recycling as required.
Set up workstation with supplies; report shortages to supervisor.
