Job summary

Boyd Gaming is seeking a Kitchen Steward to wash dishes, pots and equipment and maintain cleanliness in the culinary area. The role includes assisting the dishwashing crew, loading and unloading items, and restocking stations as needed.

Ideal candidates can stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and operate dishwashing equipment after training. 16+ years old required; safety and cleanliness are essential in this work environment.

Qualifications

• Able to work in environments with cold, heat, noise and vibration; hazards such as wet floors require precautions.
• Ability to move around the work area efficiently.
• Must be able to stand for the majority of the shift.
• Must be able to inspect all work performed.
• Able to reach, bend, squat and carry up to 50 lbs, push/pull up to 100 lbs.
• Must sort silverware as needed.
• Able to operate dishwashing equipment after training.
• Minimum age of 16 years.

Responsibilities

• Wash dishes, pots and utensils and keep the culinary area clean.
• Assist dishwashing crew and route soiled items through the machine.
• Inspect and store all clean items from the dishwashing area.
• Clean and prep large equipment not suitable for dishwashing machines.
• Restock dishware to food prep stations and keep work area clean.
• Support banquet and event setups as needed.

Job Description

The Kitchen Steward is responsible for washing dishes, pots, etc., and ensuring the cleanliness of the culinary area.

The Kitchen Steward:

• Works as a member of a dishwashing crew ensuring soiled items are placed in proper racks or containers which carry them through a dishwashing machine.
• Inspects, removes, and properly stores all clean items from the dishwashing machine.
• Washes steam kettles, tilt fryers, and food preparation equipment too large to put in dishwashing machines.
• Supplies dishware to food preparation stations as needed; removes soiled dishware and cooking equipment from food preparation stations.
• Keeps work area (floor, machine, shelving, carts, etc.) clean at all times.
• Performs miscellaneous duties, such as polishing silver, working in store room and preparing for banquets, special events, etc., as assigned.

Qualifications

• Ability to work in an environment that is subject to varying levels of cold, heat, noise and vibration; the kitchen steward is subject to hazards such as wet floors; proper precautions are taken.
• Ability to effectively and efficiently move around work area.
• Ability to stand for majority of shift.
• Must be able to inspect all work performed.
• Must be able to reach, bend, squat, and carry loads of up to 50 pounds, as well as push/pull loads of up to 100 pounds so as to be able to restock all items as needed.
• Must be able to sort all silverware as needed.
• Must be able to operate machines and equipment used, but not limited to, are all dishwashing equipment after proper training.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.
