Job Description
The Kitchen Steward ensures cleanliness in the culinary area by washing dishes, pots, and equipment, and maintaining a tidy work environment.

• Works with the dishwashing crew to ensure items are properly placed in racks or containers for washing.
• Inspects, removes, and stores all clean items from the dishwashing machine.
• Washes large equipment such as steam kettles and fryers that cannot be placed in dishwashers.
• Supplies dishware to food prep stations and removes soiled dishware and equipment.
• Keeps work areas clean and organized.
• Performs miscellaneous duties like polishing silverware and preparing for events.

Qualifications

• Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures, noise, and hazards like wet floors.
• Effective mobility within the work area.
• Ability to stand for most of the shift.
• Capability to inspect work quality.
• Reaching, bending, squatting, and lifting loads up to 50 pounds; pushing/pulling up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to sort silverware and operate dishwashing equipment after training.
• Minimum age of 16 years.

The skills are typically acquired through two months of on-the-job training or related experience.
