Job summary

Mount Rushmore National Memorial is seeking a Kitchen Steward to keep food service spaces impeccably clean and sanitized for daily operations. The role supports the culinary and hospitality teams across kitchen, dish, laundry, and storage areas, ensuring health and safety standards are met at all times.

The position is full-time year-round with a starting date of December 3, 2026, offering a pay rate of $15.05 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in housekeeping, janitorial, or foodservice preferred.
• Knowledge of kitchen/food service cleaning techniques, materials, and equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to handle cleaning chemicals safely and follow proper procedures.
• Ability to operate an industrial floor scrubbing machine.
• Friendly, professional demeanor when interacting with guests and staff.
• Willing to 'pitch-in' and help the team with tasks.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of food preparation and other assigned areas including kitchen, dish room, laundry, and dry storage; clean floors, walls, and equipment surfaces.
• Clean, sanitize and label children's highchairs.
• Empty and clean trash receptacles after outlets close; bussing stations included.
• Deep clean larger kitchen equipment to prevent grease buildup.
• Clean vents, filters, and exhaust systems to maintain air hygiene.
• Report health or safety hazards and assist with corrective actions as needed.
• Monitor stock levels of cleaning supplies and inform supervisors when low.
• Maintain and store cleaning equipment properly when not in use.
• Follow company environmental and safety policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
