Position Summary

Able to perform the essential functions of kitchen staff positions on an as-needed basis.

Opaa! Food Management, Inc. operates in 8 states in the Midwest. The pay range for this position is $15-$16 an hour, with pay rates varying depending on the School District. Please apply, and a Hiring Manager will discuss pay with you in more detail.

Functions Of The Job
Essential Functions Production
  • Assist with set-up of serving lines daily and ensure all food is held at the required temperature. Stock milk coolers for service.
  • Assist in food preparation according to the menu plan and Opaa! recipes. Plan and prepare ahead for the next day's menus.
  • Operate slicers, mixers, grinders, and other equipment with proper certification.
  • Maintain neat, clean, and organized work areas.
  • Clean kitchen and cafeteria areas, including equipment and dishes.
  • Organize inventory stock and practice FIFO procedures. Keep cooler/storage racks clean and debris-free.
  • Maintain dishwashing area, monitor chemical use, and ensure equipment is clean and functioning. Store clean dishes appropriately.
  • Requisition food and supplies through the Kitchen Manager.
  • Prepare baked goods as per menu, presenting them appealingly.
  • Batch cook to ensure quality and presentation.
  • Set up serving/bar lines, ensuring proper food temperatures and restocking as needed.
  • Serve food with proper sizes and utensils, ensuring quality presentation and hospitality.
  • Keep serving lines and condiments stocked with necessary items.
Compliance
  • Follow menu plans and recipes strictly.
  • Convert and follow standardized recipes for consistency.
  • Recognize reimbursable meals and adhere to Meal Pattern regulations.
  • Maintain accurate daily production records.
  • Follow HACCP procedures, record food temperatures, and maintain food safety logs.
  • Obey safety rules, report unsafe conditions, and participate in safety programs.
  • Attend meetings and training as required.
  • Promote Opaa!'s Core Values.
  • Comply with Timekeeping policies.
Administrative
  • Handle customer payments, make change, and operate POS systems, allowing only reimbursable meals.
  • Complete paperwork, tray counts, and meal reconciliation daily.
  • Record work hours accurately.
  • Notify supervisors of shift coverage issues in advance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical/Visual Demands
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, squat, climb, balance, kneel, crawl, push, pull, grasp, feel, taste, smell, talk, hear, and reach.
  • Occasionally exert over 60 pounds of force; frequently lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include focus, depth perception, and color vision.
Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED preferred; or up to one month related experience or training.

Skills

Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate effectively; perform basic math; apply common sense to instructions; operate kitchen equipment.

Equipment

Dishwasher, steamer, mixer, oven, stove, fryers, slicer, thermometers, gauges, knives, software, and office equipment.
