Position Summary:

Able to perform the essential functions of kitchen staff positions on an as-needed basis.

Opaa! Food Management, Inc. operates in 8 states in the Midwest. The pay range for this position is $15-$16 an hour, with pay rates varying depending on the School District. Please apply, and a Hiring Manager will discuss pay with you in more detail.

Functions Of The Job
Essential Functions Production
  • Assist with set-up of serving lines daily and ensure all food is held at required temperatures. Stock milk coolers and prepare for service.
  • Assist in food preparation according to the menu plan and Opaa! recipes. Plan and prep for upcoming menus.
  • Operate slicers, mixers, grinders, and other equipment with proper certification.
  • Maintain neat, clean, and organized work areas.
  • Clean kitchen and cafeteria areas, including equipment and dishes.
  • Organize inventory stock and follow FIFO procedures. Keep coolers/storage racks clean.
  • Clean and monitor chemical usage in the dishwashing area, and store dishes properly.
  • Requisition food and supplies through the Kitchen Manager.
  • Prepare baked goods as per the menu and present them appealingly.
  • Batch cook to maintain quality and presentation.
  • Set up serving/bar lines, ensuring proper food temperature and restocking as needed.
  • Serve items with appropriate sizes and utensils, maintaining quality presentation and hospitality.
  • Keep serving lines and condiments stocked with food, napkins, silverware, and dishes.
Compliance
  • Prepare foods in compliance with the menu plan and recipes.
  • Follow standardized recipes for consistency.
  • Recognize and follow meal pattern regulations (HHFKA and CACFP).
  • Maintain accurate daily production records.
  • Follow HACCP procedures and record food temperatures.
  • Obey safety rules, report unsafe conditions, and participate in safety programs.
  • Participate in the “Daily Dish” and required training sessions.
  • Promote Opaa!'s Core Values.
  • Comply with the company’s Timekeeping Policy.
Administrative
  • Handle customer payments, make change, and operate POS or computer systems.
  • Complete paperwork, tray counts, and meal reconciliations daily.
  • Log hours worked via ADP or submit edit sheets for missing time.
  • Notify supervisors 24 hours in advance of shift absences, or as soon as possible in emergencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical/Visual Demands
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, squat, climb, balance, kneel, crawl, push, pull, grasp, feel, taste, smell, talk, hear, and reach.
  • Must occasionally exert over 60 pounds of force and frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Vision abilities include attention to detail, depth perception, color vision, and focus.
Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED preferred; or up to one month of related experience, training, or equivalent.

Skills

Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate effectively. Basic math skills, reasoning ability, and familiarity with kitchen equipment are required.
