Functions Of The Job
Essential Functions Production
- Assist with set-up of serving lines daily and ensure all food is held at proper temperatures. Stock milk coolers for service.
- Assist in food preparation according to the menu plan and Opaa! recipes. Plan and prep ahead for next day’s menus.
- Operate slicers, mixers, grinders, and other equipment with proper certification.
- Maintain neat, clean, and organized work areas.
- Clean kitchen and cafeteria areas, including equipment and dishes.
- Organize inventory stock and follow FIFO procedures. Keep coolers/storage racks clean.
- Maintain dishwashing area, monitor chemical use, and store clean dishes properly.
- Requisition food and supplies through the Kitchen Manager.
- Prepare baked goods such as bread, cakes, and cookies, and present them appealingly.
- Batch cook to ensure quality and presentation.
- Set up serving/bar lines, ensure food is at proper temperatures, and restock as needed.
- Serve food with proper sizes and utensils, ensuring quality presentation and hospitality.
- Keep serving lines and condiments stocked with necessary items.
Compliance
- Prepare foods in strict accordance with menu and recipes.
- Follow standardized recipes for consistency.
- Recognize and follow Reimbursable Meal guidelines per HHFKA and CACFP.
- Maintain accurate daily production records.
- Follow HACCP procedures and record food temperatures.
- Adhere to safety rules, report unsafe conditions, and participate in safety programs.
- Participate in the “Daily Dish” and required trainings.
- Promote Opaa!’s Core Values.
- Comply with Timekeeping policies.
Administrative
- Handle customer payments and operate POS systems, ensuring only reimbursable meals are processed.
- Complete paperwork, tray counts, and meal reconciliation daily.
- Record hours worked accurately.
- Notify supervisor 24 hours in advance of shift absences, or as soon as possible in emergencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical/Visual Activities
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, squat, climb, balance, kneel, crawl, push, pull, grasp, feel, taste, smell, talk, hear, and reach.
- Occasionally exert over 60 pounds; frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities include focus, depth perception, color vision.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED preferred, or up to one month related experience or training.
Skills
Ability to read, write, and present information effectively. Basic math skills and reasoning ability to follow instructions and solve problems.
Tools & Equipment
Dishwasher, steamer, mixer, oven, stove, fryers, slicer, thermometers, gauges, knives, software, PCs, calculator, phone, copier, etc.
