Job summary

The Metropolitan Regional CareerAnd Technical Center is seeking a Part-Time Kitchen Staff member to assist in food preparation and service for students and staff. Responsibilities include maintaining hygienic prep areas, following safety procedures, and supporting meal operations across campus sites.

You will work up to 29 hours per week at $16.00 per hour, with training provided for ServSafe certification and opportunities to contribute to a dynamic school community.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• ServSafe certification (training will be provided).
• Positive interaction with students and staff daily.
• Background Criminal Investigation (BCI) required; must be alcohol and drug-free.
• Ability to take and read directions; stand for several hours.

Responsibilities

• Maintain clean and hygienic food prep areas.
• Follow safe food handling procedures at all times.
• Wear proper kitchen attire during shifts.
• Support daily kitchen operations and meal times.
• Set up satellite sites before meals.
• Serve breakfast and lunch to students and staff.
• Perform basic food prep tasks (chopping, peeling).
• Clean the kitchen after shifts.
• Must be able to drive to satellite campus.
• Lift up to 40 lbs as needed.

Position: Part-Time Kitchen Staff

Employment Status: Part-Time, Academic Year, Temporary

State Date: ASAP

Hourly Rate: $16.00 per hour, maximum 29 hours per week

Reports To: Culinary Director

Position Overview: The Kitchen Staff supports the Culinary department by helping to prepare and serve quality meals to students and staff as well as by maintaining a clean and safe food service environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure the food preparation areas are clean and hygienic
• Possess a commitment to safe food handling procedures
• Wear proper attire while on duty i.e. closed toe and heel, non-skid shoes, clean apron as needed, hair net to be worn at all times during the kitchen shift
• Assist in maintaining the day-to-day operations of the kitchen and mealtimes
• Set up the satellite sites before mealtimes
• Serve breakfast and lunch
• Basic food preparations such as chopping, peeling, etc.
• Clean the kitchen
• Ability to drive to satellite campus
• Physically able to lift up to 40 lbs
• Other duties as assigned
