Absaroka Senior Living Center is seeking a dependable and service-oriented Dietary Assistant / Kitchen Staff Member to join our dining services team.
In this role, you will assist with meal preparation, food service, kitchen organization, dishwashing, sanitation, and dining room operations. You will work closely with the Dietary Director, cooks, and other team members to ensure meals are prepared and served safely, accurately, and on time.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in maintaining a clean and organized environment, and wants to contribute to a positive dining experience for our residents.
Previous healthcare or dietary experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to train dependable candidates who are eager to learn.
Assist cooks and dietary staff with food preparation and meal service
Prepare basic food items, beverages, snacks, and meal components as assigned
Set up resident dining areas and meal service stations before scheduled meals
Serve meals to residents in a friendly, professional, and respectful manner
Follow resident meal instructions, dietary restrictions, food preferences, and assigned diet information as directed
Prepare and deliver resident meal trays as assigned
Assist with collecting dishes, trays, and dining supplies following meals
Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, cookware, equipment, and food preparation areas
Clean and sanitize dining rooms, kitchen surfaces, equipment, floors, and assigned work areas
Properly store food and supplies according to established procedures
Assist with receiving, stocking, rotating, and organizing food and dietary supplies
Follow appropriate food handling, temperature monitoring, sanitation, and infection prevention practices
Follow proper procedures for preventing cross-contamination and foodborne illness
Dispose of trash and food waste appropriately and maintain clean waste areas
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen and dining environment
Communicate resident food preferences, concerns, or changes in eating patterns to the appropriate team member
Provide courteous and respectful service to residents, families, visitors, and coworkers
Assist with special meals, celebrations, activities, and resident events as needed
Follow all facility policies and applicable food safety and sanitation requirements
Perform additional dietary and kitchen responsibilities as assigned
Previous experience in dietary services, food service, restaurants, senior living, healthcare, or kitchen operations preferred but not required
Willingness and ability to learn food preparation, sanitation, and resident dining procedures
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and food safety
Dependable attendance and ability to report to scheduled shifts on time
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Positive, respectful, and service-oriented attitude
Ability to communicate professionally with residents, families, and coworkers
Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen and dining environment
