Job summary

Mesquite ISD is seeking an FNS Specialist - Kitchen Safety Technician to join our food service team. The role reports to the Food Service Manager and involves preparing quality meals, maintaining sanitation, and ensuring safety standards across operations.

The ideal candidate has reading of recipes, competency with kitchen equipment, and certification in health/sanitation requirements. Full-time position with non-exempt status; wage range reflects pay grade 2 in a school district setting.

Qualifications

• Must read and interpret recipes.
• Ability to follow oral instructions for food preparation and safety.
• Experience with large-scale cooking and food service preferred.
• Knowledge of district, state and federal Child Nutrition requirements.
• Effective communication and teamwork; strong interpersonal skills.
• Exhibits time management and ability to work with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Prepare quality food according to planned menu and standardized recipes.
• Assist with storage and care of food items; keep areas clean and organized.
• Care for and use equipment safely and efficiently.
• Serve food according to schedules and policies; follow safety guidelines.
• Record documentation accurately; complete checklists and HACCP training.
