Job summary

Silo Ridge Field Club, located in Amenia, New York, seeks a Kitchen Porter to join the Culinary Department. You will maintain cleanliness and order in kitchen and foodservice areas, assist culinary staff, and support event operations to create a premier member experience.

Requirements include prior hospitality experience, strong English communication, and the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and holidays.

This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Companies locations: Silo Ridge Field Club, set in Amenia, New York. Silo Ridge Field Club is seeking a Kitchen Porter to join the Culinary Department. The Porter will be responsible to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the kitchen and foodservice areas. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.

Key Responsibilities

Work with all culinary and F&B leaders to create exemplary culinary standards and an environment of continual improvement. Always keeps all food preparation areas meticulously clean and tidy. Maintains safe and sanitary conditions in all food service areas and for all food service equipment. Provides courteous and professional service as well as proper care, movement, storage of all kitchen related equipment. Demonstrates full working COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) knowledge and adheres to all safety measures in the use of any cleaning materials required to operate. Ensures all kitchens are well maintained and cleaned prior to and/or after each daily operation including swift and hygienic garbage removal controls. Assists with inventory control of catering equipment and plateware. Demonstrates full knowledge of cleaning products and keep these areas properly stocked and cleaned. Controls any linen usage across kitchens, removing soiled items for laundry and refreshing stocks with new inventory as needed. Assists culinary staff when needed and performs side work and other cleaning and organizing as required. Communicates with supervisor verbally and through written communication throughout the shift to ensure proper notification and follow through of assigned tasks. Provides prompt, courteous service to culinary and F&B team members while maintaining a friendly and pleasant atmosphere. Safely drive and maintain vehicles available for transporting catering materials. Ensures all kitchen areas are well-maintained and cleaned prior to and/or after an event. Also assists with inventory control of cleaning equipment. Communicates with supervisor verbally and through written communication throughout the shift to ensure proper notification and follow through of assigned tasks. Maintains safe and sanitary conditions in all foodservice areas and for all service equipment. Demonstrates full knowledge of kitchen areas properly stocked and cleaned. Assists other banquet staff when needed and performs side work and other cleaning and organizing. Properly use and dispose of chemicals when conducting area cleaning. Conduct bio-hazard clean-up.

Qualifications

Prior experience and proven success in the hospitality or service industry is strongly preferred. Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members. Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands. Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred. Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours. Must have the ability to move, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and/or move up to 75 pounds occasionally. Flexibility and ability to pivot to new projects and a desire to work in a fast-paced environment.

Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands. Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
