Job summary

Hanover Consumer Coop Society in Wilder, KY is seeking a Kitchen Packaging Specialist to prepare and package finished food items from the Production team, maintain packaging inventories, and print pricing for Prepared Foods and other departments.

You will weigh, wrap, label products, ensure first-in/first-out rotation, and keep work areas clean and sanitary while following HACCP guidelines. Requirements: high school diploma, 18+, valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Kitchen or Restaurant experience strongly preferred.
  • Must be 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent follow through.

Responsibilities

  • Weighs, wraps, or packages finished food products and affixes price-weight stickers.
  • Rotates stock to ensure first-made items go to outlets.
  • Prices products and updates pricing per cost and margin rules.
  • May prepare some recipes as needed.
  • Cleans assigned areas to maintain sanitation and safety.
  • Cleans shelves, bins, tables, coolers and floors regularly.
  • Notifies Production Manager about missing tags and PLU needs.
  • Maintains in-stock levels without excessive back stock.
  • May reorder product from suppliers based on available space and inventory.
  • Adhere to all Co-op policies and procedures including the Employee Code of Conduct.
  • Participate in department meetings and complete trainings.
  • All other duties as assigned.

This role is also responsible for packaging other bulk items, maintaining adequate packaging inventories, and accurately printing pricing of products for the Prepared Foods Departments and/or other Co-op departments.Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Weighs, wraps, or packages finished food products, and affixes stickers showing price and weightEnsures rotation of first made product is sent first to outletsCommunicates information on product level to the Production ManagerPrices product and makes price changes in accordance with standard procedures to reflect cost of goods and margin requirementsMay prepare some recipes as neededCleans assigned areas to maintain safe and sanitary conditionsCleans shelves, bins, tables, coolers and floor on a regularly scheduled basisWashes hands frequently and uses flexible gloves when in direct contact with foodNotifies Production Manager about missing tags and additional PLU needsMaintains high in-stock levels without excessive back stockMay re-order product from suppliers based on available space and inventory on handAdhere to all Co-op policies and procedures including the Employee Code of ConductParticipate in department meetings and complete all required trainings for the purpose of maintaining Co-op standardsAll other duties as assignedRequired Skills/Experience and Attributes:High school graduate or equivalentKitchen or Restaurant experience strongly preferredMust be 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license and reliable transportationStrong attention to detailExcellent follow throughWilling to hold self and others accountableQuality Standards:Preparation:Packages food products in allotted time. Finishes packaging list and cleaning schedule for scheduled shift.Cleanliness:Keeps regular cleaning schedule for all equipment. Follows sanitation guidelines, SOP’s and HACCP principles as directed by the Production Manager. Ensure follow through on packaging lists and cleaning schedules for shift/team.Physical Demands:Lifting up to 60 lbs. comfortably on a regular basis. Walking, standing for long periods, sitting, keyboarding, reaching, bending, and carrying.Attendance Requirements:Monday through Friday daytime hours with flexibility to shift hours to meet demands.
