Job Description

The Kitchen Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of all kitchen equipment and machinery in a hotel or restaurant setting. This role ensures the smooth operation of all kitchen appliances and systems, providing a safe and functional environment for kitchen staff.

Responsibilities

+ Schedule and perform preventive maintenance (PM) on equipment.

+ Operate and maintain low-pressure boilers for the hot water system.

+ Operate and maintain additional vessels as needed for hot water, kitchen steam, and air conditioning systems.

+ Assist mechanics and external contractors with the repair of hotel property and equipment.

+ Repair and maintain HVAC systems and commercial kitchen equipment.

+ Repair and maintain the swimming pool and related pool equipment.

+ Complete all assigned work orders and daily tasks promptly.

+ Receive instructions for house calls via radio.

+ Possess a thorough understanding of Omni’s fire alarm procedures and emergency protocols.

+ Have a comprehensive understanding of Omni hotel rules and regulations.

+ Maintain a strong knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations.

Qualifications

+ Pay Range: $25.00- $28.00 per hour.

+ Previous maintenance experience required; hotel experience and training preferred.

+ 2 years minimum of hotel and/or commercial building maintenance experience preferred.

+ 1 year of commercial kitchen experience preferred; commercial refrigeration experience is a plus.

+ Previous experience responding to emergency situations is required.

+ Strong communication skills, attention to detail, time management, computer proficiency, and a focus on guest satisfaction are essential.

+ Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

+ Ability to crawl for short distances.

+ Ability to bend, reach overhead, squat, and kneel for prolonged periods.

+ Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds occasionally.

+ Ability to use step stools and ladders.

+ Knowledge of electrical systems, low voltage controls, plumbing, and gas systems.

+ Experience in reading and interpreting schematics.

+ Must have flexible availability to work weekends and holidays.
