Statement of the Job

A Kitchen Manager oversees the convenience store and food operations of a truck stop according to company policies and procedures to ensure maximum sales and profitability. He/She supervises personnel within the store. Work closely with the General Manager to continually improve the food service department. We pay managers hourly, so get paid for what you work, rather than those other companies that abuse and put you on salary.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the successful operation of the Food Service, including all duties expected of store associates and additional responsibilities.
  • Meet or exceed store guidelines related to inventory, cash shortages, and hours.
  • Develop and maintain staffing schedules to ensure customer satisfaction and store cleanliness within budget.
  • Perform administrative duties accurately and timely, including reports.
  • Follow and enforce all corporate cash procedures and policies.
  • Manage customer relations courteously to maximize satisfaction.
  • Oversee store maintenance and report major equipment issues.
  • Enforce company policies and comply with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Ensure store safety, proper stocking, and inventory management.
  • Handle hiring, training, performance evaluations, counseling, discipline, and termination of staff.
  • Participate in manager meetings, training, and communicate regularly with staff.
Job Duties: CHAMPS CHICKEN
  • Prepare food items following recipes and sanitation standards.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and equipment.
  • Restock items as needed and adhere to food safety codes.

Pay Frequency: Bi-weekly or twice monthly.

Starting pay is $18.00 to $19.00 per hour, depending on experience. Advanced management experience may warrant higher starting pay. Additional $.50/hour from midnight to 6 a.m. (subject to company policy).

Earn a performance review in as little as 90 days, with annual reviews thereafter. Health insurance available within 90 days. Benefits include Vacation Pay, Over-time pay over 40 hours, Annual Bonus based on store profits, and holiday overtime pay.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Customer service, cash handling, shift reporting, cleaning, stocking, yard maintenance, and other tasks assigned by management.
  • Communication skills, accurate paperwork, and wearing the store uniform.
  • Availability for weekend, evening, and holiday shifts; reliable transportation required.
  • Mandatory attendance at meetings (e.g., T.A.M., sexual harassment training).
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting 1-15 lbs, occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to access all store areas, move quickly, and perform physical tasks.
