Job summary

The Delicatessen in Phoenix, AZ is seeking an experienced Kitchen Manager to lead our fast-paced culinary team alongside the Executive Chef. This hands-on role focuses on quality, consistency, organization, and a positive kitchen culture under pressure.

You will manage menus, train staff, schedule, control inventory, and ensure sanitation standards while developing high-performing, bilingual teams and delivering hospitality-driven guest experiences.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as Executive Chef, Sous Chef, or Kitchen Manager in a high-volume kitchen.
  • Strong leadership and kitchen management skills under pressure.
  • Ability to multitask, delegate, and maintain quality and organization.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and team-building abilities.
  • Flexible availability including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Passion for hospitality, food quality, and staff development.
  • Familiarity with restaurant systems, POS platforms, and Microsoft Office.
  • Culinary degree or related certification is helpful but not mandatory.
  • Current Food Handler Card or Manager Certificate
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead kitchen operations and support the Executive Chef in high-volume service.

  • Train, coach, and motivate kitchen staff; create schedules and evaluate performance.

  • Ensure all dishes are executed with exceptional quality, presentation, and consistency
  • Help lead daily kitchen operations in a high-volume environment
  • Step in for the Executive Chef when needed to direct kitchen operations
  • Train, coach, and motivate kitchen staff
  • Create schedules and evaluate team performance
  • Manage inventory and place supply orders as needed
  • Quickly resolve issues and maintain smooth kitchen operations during service
  • Enforce sanitation, food safety, and cleanliness standards
  • Maintain a positive, professional, and team-focused culture
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience as an Executive Chef, Sous Chef, or Kitchen Manager in a high-volume kitchen
  • Strong leadership and kitchen management skills
